Rev. Rose Schwab
Rev. Rose is the senior minister at SMUUCh. She was raised Unitarian Universalist and believes church to be a place of authenticity, healing, justice, and transformation. Rev. Rose was called by unanimous vote on May 8, 2016 to be our settled minister.
She brings a love of creative, embodied, music centered worship; as well as a holy curiosity to pastoral care; and a systems approach to governance and administration. She fully dedicates herself to practicing the principles and purposes of Unitarian Universalism. Rev. Rose is one of few “out” clergy in the Kansas City area.
Prior to serving at SMUUCh, she was the Lewis Ministerial intern at the First UU Church of St. Louis during the Ferguson uprising, and then served as Resident Chaplain at Fairview Riverside Hospital in Minneapolis. She has been ordained as a Buddhist nun, and has special experience in Judaism, Buddhism, Paganism, and Christianity.
Rev. Rose has many generations of family still living in western Kansas. She majored in religion at Bates College in Maine and graduated from Union Theological Seminary in New York, New York.
In her free time, Rev. Rose practices karate, makes music, spends time with her family, enjoys her cat Marmalade, and reads.
You may contact Rev. Rose by phone 913-381-3336, Ext. 103 or via email.
