Worship at Shawnee Mission UU Church

Worship services are held at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. each Sunday morning in Fellowship Hall.

Upcoming Worship Services

September 12
Do That Thing You Do
Rev. Thom Belote

We’ve all been there.  Somebody asks us to explain Unitarian Universalism.  We find ourselves put on the spot, fumbling to try to put words to our religious tradition.  This Sunday, we explore ways to be more effective at talking with others about our beliefs… and even sharing our religion.

September 19
The Power of Forgiveness
Rev. Thom Belote

A popular Yom Kippur litany for UU congregations features the words, “We forgive ourselves and each other.  We begin again in love.”  In the week before this service, Jews around the world will have observed the Days of Awe, a tradition of atonement and starting over.  In our worship service this morning we consider forgiveness for the radical act that it is.

September 26
A Guest in the Pulpit
Boo Tyson

This Sunday our special guest in the pulpit is Ms. Boo Tyson, the Executive Director of the MAINstream Coalition.  Check upcoming all-church emails and the website for more updates.

Service for the Soul

Your Worship Team invites you to attend Service for the Soul every Friday evening in Fellowship Hall at 5:45 p.m., this opportunity for deepening connection is a lay-led informal service designed to bridge from the week-world to the weekend. It will feature centering, live music, quiet surroundings, softness of candles, readings and voluntary sharing and will last about an hour. If you have any questions, please contact Liz Campbell.
