The Our Whole Lives (OWL) sexuality program for children and youth models and teaches caring, compassion, respect, and justice. Its holistic focus moves beyond the intellect to address the attitudes, values and feelings that youth have about themselves and the world.
Our Whole Lives helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, Our Whole Lives not only provides facts about anatomy and human development, but also helps participants clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality.
Our on site OWL program includes K-1st grade and high school OWL programs. We will continue to offer our 7th-9th grade program in partnership with All Souls UU Church. The class size is limited and priority will be given to older students as enrollments are received, particularly in the 7th-9th grade program.
All of our Volunteer Teachers have received extensive training for this class. A MANDATORY Parent Orientation is required before participation. This gives parents the opportunity to meet the instructors and ask more detailed questions. This class requires a fairly significant commitment from its participants - only one absence is permitted. This program will be offered in the Spring of 2017.
