Wednesday Suppers - Come join SMUUCh members and enjoy a simple catered supper every Wednesday from 6:00-7:00 pm in the Barn Chapel. Adult meals are $6.99 and include an entrée, two sides, a dessert and drink. Children's meals are $3.50 and include an entrée, one side and a cookie. Read more about it here.
SMUUCh Facebook Group – Facebookers invite you to become a member of the SMUUCh Facebook Group. Though not administered by the church, SMUUCh members and friends enjoy this interesting and fun way to send out a message to all people in the group simultaneously. Recent news, opinions, appeals, and free form comments are posted on the group’s wall. The site also welcomes photos, links, and videos. One of the best features is the “discussion” section. To check it out, go to www.facebook.com and enter SMUUCH in the search window.
SMUUCh Choraliers - Love to sing? Join us for Wednesday evening rehearsals at 7:00 pm. All adult and teen voices are appreciated; no experience required! For more information, contact Dave Simmons, Music Director.
High School Youth Group - Our SMUUCh Youth Group provides a place where liberal, open-minded youth enjoy fellowship, discussions and service work designed and led by the youth themselves. Youth Group meets in the P.T. Barnum room on Sundays at 11:00 a.m.
Ulysseans - This group of active seniors meets monthly, September through May for outings, gatherings, potlucks. Some of the fun they've had include a trip to marble factory, tours of the new Kansas City Star building, the Nerman Museum at JCCC, the new Bloch Building at the Nelson, and area apple orchards. Bob Hamilton or Patsy Pierce will be happy to get you included.
Tuesday Book Group - Meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in members' homes. These bibliophiles enjoy both fiction and non-fiction works. Contact Annette Box for more information.
Quilters & Other Crafters - Please join our dedicated quilters or other crafters as we make small quilts or blankets for children staying at the Rose Brooks Center. The quilters meet in the Saeger House Sunshine Room at 2:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month, and at 12:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. Thursday Book Group - These lovers of non-fiction books meet in each other's homes on the fourth Thursday of each month. Contact Fern Aron for more information.
Saturday Suppers! - Looking for a way to become better acquainted with other adult church members aged 20ish + to 100+?? Saturday Suppers (formerly known as Dinner for 8) is for you! Meets on the third Saturday of the month in members' homes, September through May with a break in December. The hosts provide a main course, the guests bring the rest of the meal. Singles and couples welcomed. Contact Pat Daneman to become a Saturday Supper member or substitute.
Halftimers (Adults 40ish - 60ish) - It could be First Fridays at the Crossroads, an Election NIght Watch Party, or a simple BBQ in someone's backyard. Whatever it is, these energetic "boomers & beyond" know how to have fun! For more information about upcoming gatherings, contact Vickie Trott.
Game Night - Join us for fun and fellowship the last Friday of each month from 7:00 pm to 10-ish as we play a variety of games together in Saeger House. Please bring snacks and/or a drink to share, and feel free to bring your favorite game! For more information, contact Matt Thomas or Jane O'Neil.
Math and Science Group - From talks about the cosmos, to discussions about alternative energy sources, or recent findings on Mars, these curious folks enjoy their meeting of the minds. Contact Tim Liebert to join these somewhat cerebral folks who are aways willing to teach others as well as to learn about new discoveries.
Men's Group - SMUUCh men are invited to join us on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Black Dog Coffee, 12815 W 87th St., Lenexa, for informal discussion. The men's group makes an annual fall float trip to the Ozarks. For more info, contact Dick Day.
Quarterlife Quorum - The Quarterlife Quorum (a group for SMUUCh people mostly in their 20s and early 30's) meets for lively UU fellowship. For more information, contact Rev. Thom Belote.
ContinUUm - For all who consider themselves members of Generation X - singles or couples, with out without children, this is the group for you. FREE childcare is always provided at our ContinUUm events. Most events will occur on the second Saturday of each month 5:30-8 pm in the Barn Chapel. Bring a potluck dish to share.
